#MondayMotivation: Make something of yourself

It’s the first Monday of the new year. We have arrived at 2016. Some of us never thought that we would get here. Somehow we survived and lived to see another day.

Last year sent me for a loop — I didn’t really feel like I knew where I was going or how I doing it — somewhat feeling unstable – mentally, physically and emotionally. Along with the world taking me for a spin in my personal and professional life, I still felt blessed during the holidays. I survived.

One thing that I changed in 2015 was that I decided to learn more personally and professionally. In the past, I had social media accounts for myself but I wasn’t do anything with them. I wasn’t using them to learn or keep in touch with people.

One day, something hit me. I had the title of Social Media and Brand Manager but wasn’t using it learn or expand in my own life. I realized that I had turned robotic and needed to refresh, reboot and fall in love with it all over again.

On that same day, I started updating the profiles that had little to no followers, started new accounts on some platforms. In the progression of “getting back in touch,” I learned from many people like Brian Fanzo, Sue B. Zimmerman, Ted Rubin, Amy Schmittauer, Vincenzo Landino, Jack Kosakowski, Lewis Howes and so many more!

Some of them have podcasts that I enjoy. And one thing that stuck out in my mind is from Lewis Howes’ School of Greatness podcast and in many of these podcast. Most of them are entrepreneur targeted but at the same time target something deeper — self love, self improvement, self empowerment.

One thing that I took from one of Lewis’ podcasts — you should also get his book School of Greatness — is being able to say to yourself “I’m going to make something of myself.” It’s up to me what that means, but I have to keep saying it until I believe it. It’s still a work in process. This year, I want to make it my goal to turn myself around and be a little more proud of myself, but remain humble and human. Not a boaster, bragger, but be what it means to myself to make myself who I want to be.

I encourage you to check out the links to the awesome people above — listen to the podcast links, make some goals for yourself for 2016 and go for it. Be motivated to get ready for something better or take a risk professionally.
